Little repsite for managers this week as we’re straight back into it with only a few days to tinker. There was a temptation to weild the wildcard the week. But Palace’s plum fixture against Burnley encouraged me to resist the urge. The last time I got rid of Benteke earlier in the season he punished me with a 12 point haul, so I’m eager to minimise the threat of that happening again. There’s plenty of home fixtures this week, however many come up against big teams. A little wary of this GW, but with the luck I’ve been having I’m trying not to overthink anything.
In goal I’m sticking with Pickford. Purely because I see him making a hatful of saves, he won’t keep a clean sheet but a solid 4 would be grand. Heaton is away from home so unlikely to bring back a clean sheet, and Palace won’t be peppering Tom’s gloves like Eddie Howe’s men will for Pickford. Alonso goes to goodison, where I see a bit of a goalfest. Chelsea have not kept a clean sheet in 12 games.. 12 GAMES!! Thankfully Alonso doesn’t need clean sheets anymore as he brings back a steady trickle of attacking returns. Valencia isn’t guarenteed a start, however if he does play he looks a cert for a clean sheet. Swansea haven’t scored an away goal since GW28. If he doesn’t play I have super sub Harry Maguire to come on away at southampton. Another slight doubt is John Stones, however again if he does play he’ll very likely bring back a clean sheet with Boro visiting the etihad.
Relying on a Pep and Jose to help me out here. If both play I’m looking at good hauls, but we’ll see. Harry Maguire has an outside chnace of points at St Mary’s so there’s a few ways it could go this week. Hopefully it ends in points. Prediction: 15
Tadic comes back into the starting 11 against Hull. Hull are mighty at home but away is a different story. I’m hoping Tadic can deliver some returns here, if he doesn’t I’ll have to get rid as I look for other cheaper DGW alternatives. Alli and Sanchez go head to head in the North London Derby. Arsenal look a little more solid since their shift to 3 at the back so I’m not sure if we’ll see a goal fest here. I’ll be spending most the game cursing Harry Kane anyway, he’s the one that wakes me up at 3am in a cold sweat. He loves London derbys and is bang in form. Hopefully Alli and more importantly Sanchez can cover him off. Zaha retains his place after an underwhelming DGW, Burnley at home is plum on paper so it seemed a good decision to keep my palace contingent for one more game. Eden Hazard was brought in this week in place of Son. Son has been a revelation for GSL and is a big reason behind my decent form, but since Kane came back his starting place hasn’t been safe. Poch likes to line up with 3 at the back against the big teams so I see him benched for the Derby. Hazard has Everton away which isn’t great, but I know I want him in my team and his form has been sensational. He’s a big name I don’t think it’s possible to go without in the run in, especially with their upcoming fixtures.
Not feeling great about points from the midfield this week. I’d take a quiet Derby to limit Kane owners, Zaha and Tadic have seemingly plum fixtures and will be big differentials so I’m hoping these two can bring something home. Prediction: 20
Upfront the big Belgians retain their places. Benteke has a great opportunity to build on his form at home to Burnley. Burnley have tightened up away from home and with the bottom clubs catching up they need can’t afford to go on holiday just yet. So I see a cagey game here, although I’m backing Benteke to find a way through. Lukaku at home! YES!! Lukaku against a big club.. damn… which Rom will turn up? My thinking is he’ll be very eager to put himself in the shop window against his old employers so I see him being well up for this game. Chelsea hate clean sheets so I reckon he’ll grab at least one goal here.
Both my strikers have a history of unreliability so this could go either way. Not 100% on Benteke but I’m very hopefully for Lukaku bringing home some bacon. Prediction: 10
I was tempted to back Benteke again but I felt the safer bet was his strike partner. Lukaku has a great record at home and Chelsea are leaky at the back. I’m hoping that equals goals.
Overall, I’m a little worried about this gameweek. The FPL gods have been smiling on me this month, and I’m not sure how long it’ll continue..
Pray for more luck!
