Points: 54 (Predicted 53.. God, I’m good at this)
League: 5th
Goldenballs: Lukaku

Oh, what could have been! If it wasn’t for a soul destroying last 5 mins I would be the proud defender of the King Cash league cup.. Josh King‘s heroics coupled with Alfie Mawson‘s late consolation crushed my hopes as GSL bottled it in the final.. Otherwise this was a good week, 53 points (41 after hits) is a decent enough haul is a GW where the average was a poultry 19. However Josh King’s mega haul bailed a few teams above out of an otherwise terrible week..

Everton clean sheets are always welcome for GSL, giving Coleman a tidy return of 6 points. Unfortunately Baines‘ injury curtailed the double, which was a kick in the teeth. But Coleman‘s steady points stream keeps on rolling. He’s definitely one to keep, now the blanks have passed.

Antonio made a scoring debut racking up 8 points against Bournemouth. A very welcome 8 points as he was the only one of my transfers to bring anything back. Siggy also provided some welcome returns, however the number of teams that own him make his points difficult to celebrate too wildly.

Upfront the big man delivered. Lukaku brought home a wonderful 12 points! Making it 24 with the armband. Many took a punt on Mane as captain so this was a big kicker in having a strong week. It was also enough for the big Belgian to claim the goldenballs award. Top effort!

Elsewhere Kane‘s FA Cup injury provided a ray of sunshine that removes the need to rejig my team to fit the seemingly must have Englishman into my team.

The defence was pretty terrible. Heaton brought back a solitary point in a game Burnley were desperately unlucky to lose. He made one great save near the end, but Liverpool’s inept attacking meant no bonus save points were on offer. Maguire sacrificed a clean sheet very late on, which was hard to take.

The shit show of the week was the gamble to double up on the Liverpool midfield. Mane and Coutinho were woeful against Burnley, they were shadows of the players they can be. Coutinho looked like he’d spent the weekend with Gabby Obertan, and Mane just didn’t look arsed.  To add insult to injury Coutinho was hooked on the 59th minute just to deny that extra point.. Thanks Jurgen… They play City next week, which will no doubt be enough to motivate them to play out of their skins, but having 2 is a risk so I will be looking at a transfer in the coming days.

I should have known this week wasn’t to be when 2 of my starting 11 succumbed to injury before half time.. Baines and Llorente both suffered knocks and had to leave the field. Missing out an a minimum of 6 points… bollocks..

Elsewhere Josh King propelled himself from FPL obscurity to the big leagues with a huge 18 point haul. His form has been good enough for a few casual players to take a punt. And what a punt! He’s caught my attention in the past but I didn’t feel it was worth it.. whoops..

Overall a pretty good week but losing the cup is a kick in the balls. Very little to play for now, but I’m sure that won’t stop me! Preview to follow.
