Siggy’s second half display saves the day. All hail the Gylf!

Points: 51 (Predicted 60)
League: 7th
Goldenballs: Gylfi Sigurdsson
Outlook: 64

After an 8 point hit following last weeks combo of injuries and suspensions, my team was under some pressure to return a big haul. I’d predicted an optimistic 60 points, however I had to make do with 51..

THE GOOD

The 8 point hit saw Augero, Austin and Allen leave the team. Usually I avoid taking hits like the plague, especially 8 points, but I was confident of making gains. And for once I was right!! Siggy, Origi and to a lesser extent Kane combined to deliver 24 points! Allen got a 5, but with the Augero and Austin out, that’s a 11 point gain! Keeemon! Siggy deserves some special credit making a storming debut returning 13 points. Origi made up for Firmino‘s impotency with a solid 9 points, and Kane got 2.. yeaaah… Kane was brought in for his upcoming games, I expect big things from the gormless north Londoner in the next few weeks!

Alonso brought home a clean sheet and Sanchez nicked an assist. Solid points from both, especially with Alexis taking the captains armband. Nothing worse than a captain who blanks!

THE BAD

Cedric was a no show, why? Still not sure, hopefully preparing him for the midweek fixtures. But as predicted Southampton kept a clean sheet anyway. But zero points for me.. Hazard‘s mercurial performance yielded no results once again, letting big Diego take all the credit once again, WHEN WILL YOU GET SUSPENDED!!!! Please Diego, think angry thoughts, bite someone, shout at a ref! Anything!!

Firmino really seems to have gone off the boil without Coutinho to play off. 4 consecutive blanks whilst Mane and co rake in the points. With Origi leading the line, Firmino is no longer required to cover off Liverpool’s potent attack. Thanks for the memories Roberto, I wish you all the best.

It felt like a good week with a few decent hauls, however red arrows said otherwise. The 8 point hit put me onto 43 which was 2 points below the average. I’m blaming Vardy‘s hat-trick and all those auto-select teams still rotting away at the bottom of the leagues. It must have been close but I can’t afford to be losing ground after such a shoddy start.

TRANSFERS

As I’ve already mentioned Firmino was the man to make way this week. GSL welcomes Christian Eriksen to their ranks. His set piece abilities and knack for big hauls against lesser teams make him  an ideal candidate to cover Spurs in their upcoming home fixtures against Hull and Burnley. With Kane and Eriksen in the team I’m putting my eggs firmly in the Spurs basket, they love smashing poor teams at home so hoping for big things.

OUTLOOK

In goal Tom Heaton retains the starting spot, Pickford hosts Chelsea so that will not end well. West Ham have struggled at home and I’m backing Heaton to add to their frustration. Marcy Marc goes to Sunderland, where he has a great chance off adding to his consistent point tallies. Cedric (if he plays) goes to Stoke where he has every chance of keeping a clean sheet. Monreal visits the blue half of Merseyside this evening, where I can see Lukaku bundling at least one in so not got big hopes here. Finally Evans welcomes Swansea to the Hawthornes, if they can keep Siggy quiet then there is good points potential. Prediction: 18

In midfield Hazard will look to address his away form, and where better to start than at the stadium of light. Eriksen welcomes Hull, which has to equal points. He has 2 games to earn a long term place in the team so he has to hit the ground running. The Gylf goes to West Brom, where there have been goals of late so he has good potential to continue his fine form. Alexis Sanchez faces one of the surprisingly weakest defenses in the Prem, when he goes to Goodison Park. He has explosive points potential, so hopefully tonight will be one of those signature performances. Prediction:  26

Upfront Origi will look to score in his 4th consecutive match, however Boro has rediscovered that defensive stability in recent weeks so Divock can be forgiven if he doesn’t bring back points (as long as it isn’t Mane..). Kane is the key this week, he is leading the team out in a game where fantasy managers across the land will be expecting big things. The next two game weeks will be very important in pushing the Kane argument with Augero coming back just after Christmas. Prediction:  20

That makes a very optimistic 64 points. A lot of this depends on how Spurs fare against Hull tomorrow night, if there are goals it’s gonna be a good week!

Pray for points
