Benteke saves the day after a last minute captaincy meltdown!

Points: 58 (Predicted: 53, close enough!)
Position: 8th
Goldenballs: Christian Benteke

Outlook: 55

Sergio is injured” the worst news any fantasy football player can ever get. The ever reliable argentinian goal machine is the man when it comes to easy captain decisions. Friday nights news that he was carrying a knock, sent me into a frenzy as I scoured hopelessly unreliable news outlets for news on his fitness. Saturday morning arrived, and Sanchez seemed the safer choice. Aaah relax.. for all of 30 seconds.. Firmino is playing Sunderland, shitty hopeless Sunderland… he is the man! Yes! And the deadline passes..

By 3pm I’d already been severely punished by Augero‘s brace. By 5 pm i’d seen Firmino hobble off injured and return a measly 3 points. By Sunday afternoon the final slap in the face was Sanchez‘s 14 point haul.. Damn you Augero, Damn you Sanchez and Damn myself you indecisive fool.

THE GOOD

Throwing away 11 points on a bad captian choice was a kick in the teeth. However having those players anyway, meant my team had a solid week. Sanchez, Sergio and Benteke all returned double figure hauls, Benteke! Where did that come from?! His cameo in a crazy game at the liberty went someway to heal the previously mentioned pain earning him the newly introduced Goldenballs award! Congrats Christian, I bet you’re chuffed! Monreal also popped up with an assist netting a solid 5 points, keeping him in the good books.

Elsewhere, Coutinho‘s injury has made fantasy life much easier making Firmino the obvious choice for Liverpool cover and will force a transfers across the leagues. The league leader did the unthinkable and swapped out Sergio for Kane, ouch.. (I was moments away from making the same rash move.. phew)

THE BAD

I can’t be too critical of the rest of team, Chelsea faced a difficult task against spurs, Pickford and Anicheboi went to Anfield to grind out a grimey 0-0, that almost happened! Although where were the save points Jordan?! 5 saves Jordan?! Howay man! Capoue isn’t really expected to get anything other than the 2/3 points so his performance was no surprise. Williams, Ashley Williams, Koemans discplined Everton.. no points again, time to get rid!

Elswhere Costa was at it again, JUST GET SUSPENDED YOU CRAZY MAN!! After watching Glyfi for a few weeks I decided to wait, as he bangs in the points.. Gareth McAuley continues to punish my penny pinching as I plumped for the 0.2 cheaper option in Jonny Evans..

TRANSFERS

Thanks Christian, you’ve been good to me, you’ve plugged away with a few goals here and there to justify your place in my team. I applaud your endevour and thank you for your service. But your fixtures and team are terrible. And Charlie Austin is too good value to ignore.

Williams should have gone a few weeks back but I had other priorities. Cedric Soares comes in as Southampton look to have rediscovered their swagger, and the man from Portugal is the best value source of those points, with attacking potential and a propensity to pick up the all important bonus points.

Putting a few eggs in the Southampton basket, but with good fixtures and great form I’m hoping this is a masterstroke. Palace away next, so most likely Benteke hatrick and Soares red card.

OUTLOOK

City v Chelsea looks like a low scoring affair which will dent most teams this week. Bu elsewhere the outlook is rather positive.

Pickford welcome Leicester, who are terrible away from home at the moment, so potential for a clean sheet there! Alonso will do well to keep city at bay, Monreal goes to West Ham and Cedric to Palace. Strong chance of good points in defense this week! Prediction: 15

Joe Allen is welcomed back into the team to face Burnley, hopefully Whelan or Cameron return to free the Welshman play at no.10. Firmino goes to Bournemouth, after 2 consecutive blanks, so he’s due points! Sanchez is pushing for the captaincy as he goes to a floundering West Ham. And Hazard goes to city, he usually struggles on the road, and it doesn’t get much tougher than the Etihad, expecting a 2 there. But overall the midfield has plenty of reason for optimism. Prediction: 20

Upfront, if anyone can remind everyone that David Luiz is a terrible defender its Sergio Augero. I’m backing City to come up with the goods against Chelsea and Augero will be the man to end the Chelsea steamroller. Austin makes his Gold Standard-Liege debut against Palace, who’ve forgot the concept of keeping clean sheets, so backing the saints star man to pick up points. Anicheboi retains his starting berth as he will battle Jermaine Defoe for the goals that will inevitably beat a sorry Leicester side. Prediction: 20
