After Game Week 13 and the horrendous choice of captain for the Letdowns that got myself the Bellend of the week award, the last thing I wanted for Game Week 14 was another tricky captain decision.

Let’s take a look at the options shall we?

The Classic Option: Sergio Aguero

Everyones usually choice of Captain for their team, and he’s in form scoring 5 goals in 4 games, albeit against shite teams (Excluding Middlesbrough #proudSmoggie). However, this week he finds himself at home against Chelsea. Now, away from home, Sergio scores for fun, however at home, he’s only managed 2 goals in 6 games and even they came against Middlesbrough and Sunderland so hardly Chelsea level teams. It’s always a risk to not Captain Aguero as he has the potential to score hat tricks against anybody so he’s definitely the safe choice of the week.

The Logical Choice: Alexis Sanchez

This weeks logical choice of Captaincy has to be Arsenal’s main man, Alexis Sanchez. With a lot of people worrying about his fantasy football return per million (Though I don’t particular understand why), he returned 2 goals against Bournemouth to make it 4 goals in 4 games. The big man is usually reliable to score or assist for Arsenal and their fixture this week is an away trip to West Ham. A London Derby, one that will certainly have all players fired up but West Ham have struggled in their new home. Their form has improved considerably over the last few weeks but Arsenal will need to win this to keep in touch with the Premier League leaders. From the outset, this game should have a few goals in it, though being a derby, there is always a likelihood of a shit 0-0.

The Dark Horse: Diego Costa

On the opposite side to Sergio, is Chelsea’s main goal threat, Diego Costa. So far this season, he hasn’t gone 2 weeks without scoring a goal and last week he didn’t score against Spurs, could he be inline to score at Man City? The omens look good. Even if he doesn’t score, he seems to come up with more than the standard 2 points, usually bagging an assist. Not everyone has him in their team so if he scores big, it would have a huge impact in my attempts to catch up with the leaders.

The Fans Favourite: Roberto Firmino

Mr Roberto Firmino. The letdown of the Letdown’s last week, he certainly didn’t flourish in his role of Captain but he could potentially make amends in Game Week 14. With the latest injury to Phillip Coutinho, it’ll be all hands on deck for Liverpool as they travel the long journey down to Bournemouth. Having returned a pool 6 points over his last 2 games, Firmino will have an itch to scratch. He’s been finding himself in the right positions, but has lacked some composure to put good chances away. Will that change at Bournemouth for a Liverpool side that will be looking at him to fill the gap for the missing talisman.

The 3 legged Horse: Victor Anichebe

The risk. The massive massive risk, Mr Victor Anichebe. Probably more for those teams at the bottom of the league (I’m getting close but i’m not there yet!) in a wild attempt to find that special differential to make the difference for their team. Sunderland have improved in their last few matches with a couple of wins and a dogged display against Liverpool, but this week, they’re back at the Stadium of Light against a Leicester team that does not like to be away from their home town and their new look trophy cabinet as they’re 2nd bottom of the away chart. The only thing keeping them from being bottom is that Burnley are just as shit away from home. Of 6 matches away from the Walkers Stadium so far, they’ve lost 5 and drew 1, scoring 5 and conceding 16 goals! With a Sunderland team aggressively looking for points and a Leicester team thinking of ‘doing a Leicester’ in Europe, could it be a potentially massive points return for Anichebe?

I think all options are valid and worthy of applied logic but we’ll know come Monday whether our decision has been ‘Divine like’ or ‘Game Week 13 like’. Pray for the Letdowns.
